Player of the Week to select Player of the Year 2010

John Pahl approved that CTTC will make a player of the year 2010 award and a runner up award and possibly a third place. The first two finishers will win cash awards and for third place possibly some equipment or one tournament pass or something like that.  These two players will be chosen from among those who win the Player of the Week Award . The rules to select the Player of the Year (Week) and Runner Up are designed to be as objective as possible. The rules are described below. If errors are discovered in the process we will fix them as we move along. We will award these prizes during our end of the year Holiday party like last year.

2010 CTTC Holiday Party is scheduled for Thursday, December 30 , 2010

Rules to Select the Player of the week

Every week we will choose a Player of the week. The Procedure and sequence is as follows

See Week 1 & Week 2 results to understand how Player of the week is selected,  after reading the procedure below

1.  We take players in each division with highest rating point gain (except defaulters not playing minimum 5 matches & first time League players as their rating is quite inaccurate) . This person may or may not be the same person who had the most match points (Match Points will NOT be used for any of these calculations except for tie-breakers .........just rating point gains only)

2. Double the Division 1 winner's point gains and multiply the Division 2 winner's point gains by 1.5.  This weighting is done to give higher division players somewhat of an equal chance , as it is very difficult to gain points in higher divisions.

3. Among Division Winners , are there a women under age 22 as of that day ? If yes, the female player with highest rating gain (rating losses are ineligible) among these is the  winner for Player of the Week. (If there is a tie , the player with better match points wins, though they are in different divisions....if tie still exists, lowest division player wins). Done . End

4. If no women under 22 among division winners by point gain , check if there is a male under age 22 as of that day . If yes , the , the male player with highest rating gain (rating losses are ineligible) among these  the  Winner for Player of the Week .  (If there is a tie , the player with better match points wins, though they are in different divisions....if tie still exists, lowest division player wins) Done. End

5. If no male or female under 22 among division winners by point gain , check next for female players OVER age of 55 on that day. If found the female player with highest rating gain (rating losses are ineligible) among these is  the  Winner for Player of the Week .  (If there is a tie , the player with better match points wins, though they are in different divisions....if tie still exists, lowest division player wins) Done. End

6. If no female or male under 22 or no female over 55 by point gain among division winners, look for  male players over 55 as of that day among division winners by point gain. If found , the male player with highest rating gain (rating losses are ineligible) among these is the  Winner for Player of the Week .  (If there is a tie , the player with better match points wins, though they are in different divisions....if tie still exists, lowest division player wins) Done. End

7. If no winner selected yet , look for any female players with most rating gain among all the Division Winners  and the female with highest rating gain is the Player of the Week.  (If there is a tie , the player with better match points wins, though they are in different divisions....if tie still exists, lowest division player wins) Done. End.

8.  Finally, if no winner selected yet , the male player with highest rating gain is the Player of the Week.  (If there is a tie , the player with better match points wins, though they are in different divisions....if tie still exists, lowest division player wins) Done. End. Keep in mind you will be using double the gain for Division 1 and 150%  for Division 2.

Awards for Players of the Week

Currently all players of the week become eligible for Player of the year. Additionally all adult male players get a big wet kiss on their lips from club president John Pahl  :)

But seriously a lofty goal is to get 52 sponsors to give prize money for each ( player of the )week. If your organization or any others you know wants to donate a week or more , let me know

If mistakes are discovered anytime during the year for any week, the league admin will correct the error retroactively

Rules to Select the Player of the Year 2010 & Runner -up

These 2or 3 players will be selected from among those who were Players of the Week as described above

Winner is selected using the formula > (No. of Times Player of the Week ) x (League Attendance %)

Minimum of 65% attendance or a minimum of 5 calendar months with 100% attendance is required to qualify

Additionally a minimum range of 30 weeks of attendance required

If there is a tie , the player with highest attendance % for the whole year wins it

If there is still a tie, the player with most rating gain or least loss  (difference initial rating when first played in league in 2010 to final end of year rating) wins.

Unethical conduct such any manipulation of the rating system such as dumping last 3 or 4 matches of the day if you lose the first 3,  to win big in following week etc will automatically disqualify you from consideration. Additional violations lead to permanent ban from consideration as well as other penalties. Players do NOT get the benefit of the doubt in case of slightest doubt.

Many players requested that we play the League on Thanksgiving Day though many other players travel to Baltimore for US Open Teams Championship held every Thanksgiving Weekend. (This is also a call & reminder to notify friends and form your team as early as possible) We will play  the League on Thanksgiving Day and that will be the Final League Day for League Year 2010 .

We will have Week 1 of League Year 2011 on December 2 2010. We will play 4 weeks in 2010 for 2011. Thus January 6,  2011 will already be  Week 5 for Year 2011. This is what most players want and almost noone wants to take a break from League  !!!!.

The League Awards & CTTC Holiday Party will NOT be on a Thursday but will be on a Tuesday or Saturday or Sunday in First half of December 2010 , to be determined later and it will not clash with US Nationals as many active league players missed the 2009  party last year as they were in Las Vegas for US Closed which comes a week before Christmas. The Holiday Party is open to all CTTC players and their friends and families and NOT just limited to League Players

Players must be present to claim the prize money or other items on Holiday Party Day . Failure to do so will result in other 2 players sharing 50% your purse and you only get 50%

Voluntary Donations to the awards fund

In addition to what CTTC will provide towards prize money , I am interested in collecting additional money from any & all CTTC members (league players or not) , to make this awards as big as possible. There is no minimum or maximum that you need to give and you are under no obligation to give any. I (S_J)  will start off with $25 from my pocket and list here the names and amounts if anyone else donates so we can keep an accurate count (Last year some players like Elias, TP Lee, Victor and Deepak, Femi etc gave ridiculous amounts via of money and/or food (sorry if I missed anyone) ) ,  and here is your chance to make them look like cheap bastards this year !!!! . We will award these prizes during our end of the year Holiday party. This money donated will be used Part % for the Holiday Party & Part % towards the Prize Fund. Exact % will be determined based on what we end up collecting and what CTTC will give the League(as agreed to by John Pahl). The Holiday Party is open to all CTTC players and their friends and families and NOT just limited to League Players
